Poem - Irises

The world is blue,  as if inside an Iris.

I rarely see people giving them as gifts,

but I think Van Gogh might have.

He seemed to like them.

But did he have anyone to give them to?

Do you have anyone to give them to?

Maybe that’s why he painted them,

The Irises and the Sunflowers

and the Almond Blossoms and the Roses.

Maybe he was lonely. But aren’t we all lonely?

Each living in our own little Iris.

Maybe that’s why our world is blue.
